Amanda L Shaw

As is the case in life, if you are of a creative aura you will also meet similar creative people along route. I’ve come across more talented, moving or inspiring people in the past year than at other time in my life. I can see clearly that the more I’ve progressed in cooking, photography and my writing I’ve gained a new outlook on what it truly means to have a talent and also how it is possible to channel these talents into something that you can call your own, something that belongs solely to you, that you created and that you present in your own unique way. All aspiring people know too well that the journey they undertake is always very unique and personal to themselves, the route that all aspiring people undertake is one of personal sacrifice for the dreams we hold most dear to our chests.

Amanda and I met in the same manner as I had with Natalie, which was through the social networking site named Facebook. I sent a request to Amanda which was accepted and I instantly looked through her info to see what it was she did for work or any similar activities or interests that might be like my own. This is when I noticed that Amanda was a singer, and to me that was an amazing thing to know that I was now friends with a professional singer and that if I tried to communicate with her, she might in fact write back. As to me music is a huge part of my life, I like a varied and wide selection of different genres of music. I don’t just like one particular type of music, but if I hear a song that I like then the relevance to genre isn’t a worry to me, if anything the more genres of music you like the more open you feel towards music.

100

100? I can hear you already wondering what that is and how it relates to me, but 100 is what it says, it is my own personal milestone in cooking, whereby I have finally surpassed the 100 recipe marker. It was a marker that I didn’t set myself to achieve, I simply cook recipes that are from my heart and soul and all the awards or achievements that may be gained from such a marker mean little to me, it is the food I create that is the real winner. I started this journey off just over a year and a half ago, I wanted at first to show to my close friends my cooking style and what food I like to eat.

Me, Natalie and Forty-two

As you all know I have my artist partner named Natalie Williams, she drew my cooking page profile photo and I actively help promote her art onto my cooking page and to my friends I have on Facebook. I try all I can to show to others her art and why I think she has a rare and unique talent that people need to see. The relationship that me and Natalie have is more of a brother and sister relationship rather that friends, I can tell her how I am feeling and know that she is always there for me and know that she will never judge me or say unkind words. She is a true friend that I am so glad to have in my life as we can all search our lives for friends we want and never find ones that really are there for us when we need them the most.

The rain

I was walking alone on a summers day in 2011 along Sompting downs, the weather was perfect for wearing shorts and t-shirt and it was great weather too for taking photos. I’d reached an idyllic little farm and the day was coming to a good start, but as it is a normal thing here in England the weather can change in an instant and as I was wearing next to no protective clothing from the elements it decided to rain. I looked around for any place that I can use for shelter and the farm was the best bet but my courage was lacking to climb over an electric fence, this was the point I knew my photography journey was over for the day.

As you all know I have my cooking page on Facebook and at first I sourced a photo off the internet that I thought was truly iconic, it summed up how I feel about cooking, what it means to me, how I relate to it and most important how other people would view my style of cooking. It was a photo to express my love of food but after a certain amount of time I looked at this photo and thought that it looked good but it lacked the creative spark that I had produced with my page, it was then that I decided I needed someone to draw me a photo to use as the page photo. I knew it had to be cooking related and have that look about it to draw people in and hopefully make them view my page.  I searched through all my friends, and friends of friends for over a month but with no real success, until I came across a young artist named Natalie Williams.
