Lets talk about Jobs

Hello there, first of all I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Jesse and I shall be one of the new bloggers for Brighton Rag!

Here's a small bit of information about me: I'm a young male student from
Brighton, I have a slight problem just about everything and will voice my opinions rather loudly, I like a broad spectrum of music and going out for a good ol' time, I'm also in a Harcore/ Metal band; Unconditional UK (Check us out!
www.facebook.com/unconditionaluk)

You may find that some of the things i say may be, enlightening, humourous
and maybe even offensive, but I mostly have good intentions (I promise) I aim to give people something interesting to read through my ramblings and more importantly a message and a strong point maintained though it all. If you have any strong views or ideas you think I may be interested in writing about then get in touch, any feedback is also welcome... And now with all the boring shit out of the way, lets commence!

Lets talk about Jobs... or more like the lack of jobs since the recession kicked in. Many people have found themselves being made redundant, and finding themselves in alot of a struggle with money, it almost seems like a void in society when you see perfectly capable people not bothering to try to find work or even doing something worth while with their time, compared to the other members of society actually doing something, whether it be for the community or for their own business, they are still willing to do something productive and proactive.  I find that being a young person in such a busy place as Brighton that trying to find even a Saturday job is near impossible. As much as I'd like to think that Employers will realise that The Young people of today are the future of tomorrow, (However worrying
that thaught is) Would make them want to offer more jobs to a younger audience (If available) I know it wont happen...

SO! Here are some ways around, the young unemployment blues:

1. Firstly, if you haven't already put together a C.V. (Curriculum Vitae) THEN DO IT NOW! Your C.V will need to contain your qualifications, contact details, basic information (age, name, etc) experience, references (Or offering references if needed) and then a you could add a little bit about yourself, and then pretty much hand it in anywhere and everywhere looking to take on (You can't afford to be picky!)

2. Secondly, don't give up at the first few places you try, KEEP AT IT! If you really wanted a job that much then you would search your hardest to get something, and if you were lucky enough to find a job, even then don't complain if you think it's shit... just be glad you've got somewhere, bare in mind there will always be someone who is worse off than you (try thinking about other people) and someone trying harder than you, because the chances are that an employer will see that and want them for the job.

3. Finally, nothing comes handed to you on a golden platter (Unless you're some posh prick who's living in a make believe world) You will need to have a strong vibe to you that shows that you are happy to be there and are happy to be working, and if all turns out well for you then you may just have yourself a job!

I can imagine a few people will be reading this and thinking "Really? You don't know what you're talking about" and if you then please get off your high horse and think for a moment, if and when you've been in a situation where you've been searching for a job and had no luck
then at times you will wonder why you're bothering... The reason in which you bother is so you don't end back at square one again, with the same "Something will come to me" attitude as before, after which realising it wont. If you genuinely have had a little think about it and
nothing springs to mind where you havn't had to try extremely hard to find a job then maybe you are one of two things, either very lucky when it comes to work or you maybe one of the "Posh pricks" I mentioned earlier, in which case I may ask you to leave now as you are clearly on the wrong blog page and will most likely become offended by blogs yet to come.

*Random rant over*

If you do find that your efforts aren't effective first time then just try again, the worst thing that can happen is that you don't get a job straight away, and if you don't then it's nothing lost and it means you can tick a few places of your list if they're not taking on.

May I also add that good places to ask in would be:

LOCAL SHOPS!- If you've got the balls to go in somewhere and talk to a member of staff and show a keen interest in working there then they may be able to put in a good word with the manager and get you in! Also check the connections you have as you'll be suprised what a little bit of asking around can do for you.

Chains- Supermarkets, Café's, Restaurants and big name shops. (They're always looking for new staff)

Cheers for reading!
