Previously we spoke about a sprinkling of important issues, that are part of our natural self-examination. I touched lightly on many important questions we might ask ourselves during important times in our life. I purposely brought up many deep questions without delving deeper for two reasons.
Firstly to illustrate how easily we can confuse ourselves with too many considerations. Secondly because I'm not here to give you answers, but to help you find them for yourself and grow as an individual. ( By the way, the secret's out: the answers are only yours if you learned them on your own.)
We also spoke ( also topically ) about techniques of meditation.
Today we will combine the two lessons whose combined power will give us more personal power than ever before.
At this point we do not want a "get it right the first time mentality". We will simply choose an important topic we'd like to work on, almost at random. Let's choose our progress at work - our job - our mode of earning money to pay our usual expenses. [ Note: Today we will focus only on the basics of what we expect from our way of earning money rather than whether or not our current work choices fulfill our higher soul's needs.]
[ For the next part we will need to revisit our lesson on the technique of meditation.]
Once we have reached the proper relaxed state and the breathing technique has descended in our mind so as to be automatic, we will begin to slowly and comfortably focus on our day at work. This day actually begins on the morning you arise to prepare yourself for the coming day of work.
In your mind take yourself through the preparations you begin to make when you get out of bed: Follow yourself in a kind of visual tour of not only your physical preparations and routines, but any random thoughts and feelings - that you may or may not expect - that may pop up.
Making sure your breathing and attitude towards the exercise is relaxed, continue to not only continue with your regular routine stuff you go through to prepare for the coming day - such as what clothes you'll wear, not forgetting your keys, diary, travel money and mobile etc.
Now, let youself go deeper allowing the routine stuff go by as fast as you choose, again paying closer attention to 'how and what you are feeling, rather than doing.
Are you looking forward to the day?
Are you looking forward to the people you'll see; the appointments you have scheduled?
Soar slowly over the events you experience in the course of a typical work day paying particular attention to whether you're enjoying the experience or wishing you were elsewhere - like back at home in bed.
If there are things about your typical day you'd like to change, make a mental note of them.
Slowly bring yourself to a state of being awake like we learned previously in our meditation lesson.
Before moving or doing anything else, grab the notepad placed near you we began and write down any thoughts or feeling you can remember even if they don't seem to make sense. Continue this til the feeling to comment further passes.
Put down the notepad, slowly leave the room and find something refreshing and light to eat and watch some television - do not read.
Later read what you have written and reflect on your meditation. Talk to no one about your experience until you've slept on it.
We'll talk further.
